On Slowing Down

Rushing gets us nowhere, fast…

We have gotten so far ahead of ourselves: planning, striving, comparing, competing, worrying, racing, adding details to this or that for the better. For the betterment of what? For whom? All this rushing around, and around, takes a toll on our whole being. Soon, our nervous system revs up the parts of us that prefer to stay calm and steady, like our heart and breath. Our mind jumps from thought to thought, activity to activity and pausing becomes a foreign concept. Our relationships, body, and mental health are crying out for a slower pace. Are you listening?

Ready, Set, Slow Down:
  • One thing at a time
  • Stay aware of even breathing
  • Savor eye to eye contact with innocent energy
  • Find stillness
  • Marvel at nature
  • Think two hour rather than fifteen minute increments
